Taking place virtually from March 7-8, 2025, the fifth annual virtual Student Conference from NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists will explore the intersections of the news industry and LGBTQ+ identities.

About me

Joseph Darius Jaafari is the founder and editor in chief of LOOKOUT, the Southwest's only LGBTQ+ news outlet focused exclusively on accountability journalism. He's lead the newsroom from a small newsletter to an award-winning news outlet in less than two years, including Best LGBTQ+ News Source and General Excellence in Newswriting. Before starting LOOKOUT in 2022, he was on investigation teams for the Arizona Republic, Spotlight PA, PA Post/WITF, and The Marshall Project. His past work has been with a heavy focus on military, defense, and criminal justice issues.
